All dogs Derp, but Corgis are super derpilicious
Derp, as Quoted from Urban Dictionary:
A facial expression reminiscent of one who is retarded. It often involves eyes turned in different directions and a stupid smile.
In reply to that idiotic comment, I posted a picture of a retarded facial expression with the caption “This is my derp face.”
Ok, so this definition is a bit harsh. No one likes to be called a “retard”; however, let’s just say that it stands for a goofy face, obviously for fun and laughs. Well, let me tell you, Corgis are the kings and queens of the derping.
What is the difference between Derping and Smiling?
Great question. Any smiling is smiling. A smile elicits the expression, “Awww, that is so sweet.” Or, “Oh, I just love Corgis…” with a dramatic warm trailing off of voice. This photo is a Corgi “smile” photo. See the distinct grins. The bright eyes and attention. Feel the warmth building inside of you. Not too wide and toothy, but just enough.
Now, this is a full-on “derp”. A derp elicits a laugh, a chuckle, a guffaw, followed by a strong, “DERP!!!” Or, “Duh…I’m a Corgi.” See the smile, yet see the goofiness in the eyes, the laziness of the expression, kind of a slight smile, but slightly insecure. This is the classic “derp.”
What does it look like?
Let’s demonstrate the Corgi “smile” vs the Corgi “derp”
Derping, maybe being cutie cutes, but you get the picture:
Now, just a series of fantastic derping from the Three Corgis crew
So, there you have it. Yes, this is a long winded explanation of the expression, but now YOU KNOW!!!
